14th December 2021

Dear Parent/Carer

Arrangements for the start of the Spring Term 2022

The Government has instructed us to conduct Covid testing before students are allowed to return to school in January 2022. Testing in school helps to boost participation and will help reduce transmission after a period of mixing over the holidays. I would strongly recommend that all students test regularly over the holiday period and should test on the 2nd January 2022 at home. The school has supplies of Lateral Flow Devices available from Student guidance and students should pick these up before 17th December 2021. The school will test students on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th January 2022 (please see the timetable below for specific dates and times). If a student tests positive, they must isolate at home and book a PCR test.  All positive tests should be reported to the school and the NHS.

Tuesday 4th January 2022

Year 7 – Wave 1 (8:30am-10:30am)

Year 8 – Wave 2 (10:30am-12:30pm)

Year 11 – Wave 3 (1:00pm-3:00pm)

These students will return to school on Wednesday 5th January at 8:40am as long as their test result is negative.

Wednesday 5th January 2022

Year 9 – Wave 1 (8:30am-10:30am)

Year 10 – Wave 2 (10:30am- 12:30pm)

These students will return to school on Thursday 6th January at 8:40am as long as their test result is negative.

Remote learning

To ensure continuity of education and the school curriculum, teachers will be uploading work in advance of your child’s lesson to ensure they do not fall behind.

All work is expected to be completed during your child’s usual lesson time(s).

Google Classroom can be accessed from a range of electronic devices by downloading and installing the app (available from all major app stores) or navigating to classroom.google.com

All instructions for students will be included in the tasks posted by staff on the day and they will be contactable via email throughout the day. Live lessons will not be taking place as staff will be supporting the testing process.

All Year groups – Tuesday 4th January 2022

Years 9 and 10 – Wednesday 5th January 2022
