31st August 2021
I hope that everyone has been able to have a restful break and managed to enjoy some valuable family time over the six week break. We are looking forward to welcoming all the students back over the next few days and are all hoping for a fantastic year, where Covid-19 no longer has the impact it did last year.
Attached is a copy of the letter I sent prior to the holidays with arrangements for the new term. Please ensure that your child is aware of the information contained and knows when their test times are and when their return date is. We will put some work on Google classroom for students in Year’s 8-11 to look at and complete until their return to school date. Year 7 have not yet had training for Google classroom or been given a log in therefore we are not able to provide this.
In terms of Covid-19 we are retaining a number of the measures we had in place prior to the summer, particularly around the use of hand sanitizer and enhanced cleaning procedures. Governors have ensured that we have the funds to hire more day cleaners and lunch-time supervisors to support us with this. Face coverings are optional at the moment but I would strongly recommend students and staff use them particularly in communal areas. I will not update parents when we receive notification of a positive case as I did last year as there is no longer any need for close contacts to self isolate. I will of course update you regularly as I always have, especially if cases are becoming a cause for concern.
There will be some changes to Dining routines and we are re-introducing the One-way system, which we shall share with students when they return to school. Much of the school has been painted and a deep clean has taken place. Governors have made a substantial investment in PE and we now have a fully equipped gym following delivery of all the machines and training for staff over the summer. This is in addition to purchasing two full size trampolines for use by PE. With regard to PE lessons we are now able to use changing rooms again, therefore children should no longer come to school dressed in their PE Kit but change at school.
Thank you and I look forward to working with you over the coming year.
Mr G.W. Lumsdon
