Good evening
Further to my message this morning regarding the positive cases today. We have had a second Year 7 student inform us that they have tested positive over the weekend, making a total of three cases today. I have been contacted by the Local Health Protection Board who have reassured me that they believe the increase in cases in the school mirrors the increase in the wider community. Apparently there has been a significant upsurge in cases since half term across the County. They emphasised that we are a large school with 1160 students and around 140 staff and the number of cases remains relatively small. Therefore they are not unduly concerned.
Whilst this was reassuring in one sense, it was not in another as every positive case is a big concern to me. You will appreciate that I have to be guided by the Health Protection Team and they have reassured me that everything we are doing as a school is correct. The key part of the track and trace is to try and identify the right individuals who are required to self isolate.
Any affected students required to self isolate are being informed directly. Again please bear with us whilst we contact individuals.
Once again- thank you for your support
